Job Summary

Royal Bank of Canada is expanding its Quality Engineering team to provide exceptional solutions for clients.

The position of Technical Quality Assurance Lead - Trading Systems involves planning, executing, and tracking functional and automation tests for WMTS Canada. The objective is to ensure the QE processes are well-defined, executed, and continually monitored. Collaboration with different project teams ensures that the functional/regression test suite remains up-to-date and relevant. The lead will be accountable for driving quality and championing defect prevention/early detection and maximizing test coverage.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support on testing estimation acting as a release lead in full capacity.
  • Sustain overall quality engineering strategy.
  • Accountable to provide subject matter expertise and leadership on test case architecture and design.
  • Support leadership in the execution of operational frameworks, processes, and tools, and utilization of organizational change management practices to drive support and empower staff in assigned units.
  • Provides recommendations and contribute to solutions in area of expertise including leading QE work streams.
  • Sustain the implementation of QE Program and overall QE process and standards through optimized test case architecture and automation in portfolio.
  • Effectively communicates and builds rapport with team members, stakeholders, and business partners using various techniques and collaboration from initiation to close.

What You Will Do:

  • Automate assigned areas/features using existing frameworks and provide test estimations for trading applications.
  • Responsible for designing effective test cases using model-based approaches and test design techniques.
  • Responsible for overall quality of testing deliverables/activities.
  • Support the implementation of the QE Program and overall QE process and standards through continuous test execution and reporting.
  • Leverages existing automation frameworks, tools, and artifacts to ensure testing processes are continuous, comprehensive, and fully autonomous.
  • Closely works with Application Development teams as one unified team to integrate quality engineering mindset/concepts within the DevOps framework/pipeline.
  • Works with Solution Architects across LOB to identify E2E application architecture changes to drive QE strategies during testing.
  • Responsible for technical coaching, mentoring, training, and day-to-day interaction with a team of QE practitioners, developers, and driving test case architecture for projects/programs.

Requirements:

Must-Have Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5-6 years of experience in a QE/test environment with a focus on technical, automated testing in a variety of environments (Web, Windows, Mainframe, databases, and services/APIs) using tools like SoapUI, Selenium, Appium, UFT/Lean UFT/RestAssured/Robot Framework, TestNG).
  • Expert in script development using languages (e.g., Java, C/C++, Perl, Python, Bash, etc.) and SQL DB querying.
  • Strong trading domain knowledge and hands-on experience in testing the trade lifecycle, order flows for assets like stocks, options, mutual funds, Forex, and fixed income (including bonds, coupons, GIC's, money-markets, and T-bills, etc).
  • Strong testing concepts including planning, test estimation, strategy, expert in leading and hands-on test case design to provide efficient optimal coverage.
  • Expert knowledge of industry practices with a focus on Agile, DevOps (test integration in CICD pipeline), source code management using GIT, SVN, E11, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills and effective negotiation skills.
  • Computer Engineering, Computer Science, related (technical) degree/diploma.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
  • ISTQB Certified Agile Tester.
  • ISTQB Advanced Level Technical Test Analyst (CTAL-TTA).
  • ASTQB Certified Mobile Tester.
  • Wealth/Portfolio Management domain knowledge.
  • Experience using test case optimization tools such as ConformIQ, Hexawise, etc.
