Job Overview

As a key member of the Qualico Canada team, the Site Foreman/Foreperson plays a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of construction projects. Reporting to the Construction Manager, this individual is responsible for providing support to ensure all site work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Site Superintendent in supervising site employees, ensuring compliance with quality standards, policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Conduct thorough inspections to identify and remedy framing deficiencies, ensuring that all corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with municipal inspectors and structural engineers to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Read and interpret project drawings and specifications to prepare schedules and reports, ensuring accurate and timely completion of tasks.
  • Install fire stopping and back framing, and perform repair work as necessary, utilizing a variety of tools and equipment.
  • Operate and maintain a range of equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with Qualico Canada's Safety Program, promoting a culture of safety and well-being among site employees.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of construction experience, with a strong understanding of tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Experience as a foreman or supervisor is preferred, with a proven track record of leadership and team management.
  • Extensive knowledge of building codes and construction techniques is required, with a strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are necessary for travel to site locations.
  • Satisfactory verification of a criminal record check is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Red Seal in Carpentry is preferred, with a strong understanding of construction methods and techniques.
  • Supervisory experience as a team lead is an asset, with a proven ability to motivate and guide team members.

Work Conditions

The Site Foreman/Foreperson will primarily work on site during regular business hours, with occasional travel to the regional office or other site locations. The role will involve exposure to noise from equipment/machinery, occupational hazards, and inclement weather, as well as dust and other environmental factors. Overtime may occasionally be required, with a focus on ensuring the successful completion of projects.
