The Government of Northwest Territories seeks a highly skilled Human Resources Advisor to join its team in Yellowknife. This position fosters and promotes sound, harmonious Employer-employee relations throughout the organization.

Job Overview

This role requires providing consistent and timely advice in areas such as employment contract administration, dispute management, employee discipline, and human rights in the workplace that is reflective of relevant law, government-wide policies, practices, and initiatives.

The incumbent's advice is relied on by management as representing final level, expert assessments and recommendations. The incumbent makes recommendations in the development of government policy and legislation related to government employment.

The incumbent is required to research and maintain expertise in employment law, labour law, human rights law, and to obtain and assess legal advice where necessary to recommend courses of action, resolve issues, and ensure the employer's best interests are maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice on employment contracts, dispute resolution, and human rights in the workplace.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote positive Employer-employee relations.
  • Maintain expertise in employment law, labour law, and human rights law.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of providing exceptional client service, communicating effectively with senior managers, supervisors, technical staff, employees, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Law, or a related field is required. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field, including at least 1 year as a labour relations advisor or human resource generalist, is also required.

The estimated salary for this position is between $80,000 and $110,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
