Bakery Clerk Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Bakery Clerk to join our team at Calgary Co-op. As a key member of our bakery team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining a safe and efficient work environment, and ensuring the highest quality products are available to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by maintaining a clean and organized store environment, adhering to company policies and procedures, and providing excellent customer service.
  • Perform all aspects of bakery clerk functions, including panning, operating bake-off ovens, preparing bakery platters, and icing cakes with names and messages.
  • Handle merchandise, ensuring quality, minimizing damages and markdowns, and providing substitutions and price integrity.
  • Perform general clean-up duties, including cleaning spills and display fixtures, and maintaining a neat and organized department.
Requirements:
  • Grade 9 or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Previous bakery retail experience.
  • Must be fluent in English (CLBA-Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment score of 5 or higher).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bakery product knowledge and experience.
  • Basic Word, Excel, and Outlook skills.
