Job Overview

The Yellowknife Women's Society is seeking a highly motivated and career-minded Family Counselor to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct individual and group counselling services for residents and their families, planning, developing, implementing, and coordinating support services.
  • Provide appropriate home and community-based support and prevention services, and deliver programs promoting healthy lifestyles and relationships for residents.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • University degree in an associated field preferred.
  • Minimum one year training or experience working with individuals with cognitive and/or physical challenges in a community residential setting.
  • Current CPR and first aid certification.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Clean Criminal Records Check.
  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Effective communication both verbally and in writing.
  • Computer literacy including MS Word, Excel, and email.
  • Strong morals and ethics, commitment to staff and clients' privacy.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Job Details:
  • Fixed-term contract.
  • 6-month contract length.
  • $35.00 per hour.
  • 40 hours per week.
  • Benefits include dental care, extended health care, life insurance, on-site parking, paid time off, and RRSP match.
  • 8-hour shift, day shift, weekends as needed.
