Chief Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Engineer to oversee the maintenance, repair, and operation of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within our property. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and efficiency of our infrastructure, while also managing a team of maintenance personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Maintenance Management
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, including HVAC, elevators, kitchen equipment, and guestroom amenities.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to identify issues and ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Coordinate repairs, upgrades, and replacements as needed to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inventory, and service contracts.
- Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, and manage the Maintenance Team.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to ensure high levels of productivity, professionalism, and job satisfaction.
- Budget Management
- Develop and manage the departmental budget, including forecasting expenses, monitoring costs, and optimizing resource allocation.
- Provide commentary on the performance of their area(s) daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency without compromising quality or safety.
- Project Management
- Oversee capital improvement projects, renovations, and equipment installations from planning through completion.
- Coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and consultants to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications.
- Evaluate new technologies and solutions to enhance the property's infrastructure and guest experience.
- Safety and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards related to building maintenance, fire safety, and environmental health.
- Implement safety training programs and emergency response procedures to protect guests, employees, and property assets.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly and conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and mitigate risks.
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Chief Engineer who possesses a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various departments to maintain high standards of service and guest satisfaction.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related field, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering or maintenance management, preferably in a hospitality or hotel environment.
Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, including HVAC, refrigeration, and kitchen equipment, is essential. Proven ability to prioritize tasks, solve problems, and make sound decisions under pressure is also required.
Working ConditionsThis position may work long days and/or weekends to meet periodic upturns in business demands or meet deadlines. The Chief Engineer is expected to be on call for emergencies and must be able to respond to emergencies when not on site.
This position is set in a fast-paced environment that requires continuous physical movement and the ability to manage multiple sequences and demands. This position will require periods of independent work, the ability to lift to 75 lbs., and exposure to hot and cold temperatures.
