IXL System Designer

About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled IXL System Designer to join our team at Alstom. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing standardized IXL architectures and related configurations of IXL equipment suitable for tenders, prototyping, series production, and project deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop single line and double line signalling plans, including signal location, switch machine location, and type, bungalow types and locations, platform locations, and grades.
- Update signalling plans with track circuits, IJs, speeds, interlocking zones, level crossing, approach limits, and timers.
- Develop route and aspects charts for all signals and routes.
- Perform safety braking calculations.
- Collaborate with project IXL design leaders, project engineering managers, and product development teams to capture customer architectural requirements, internal and external interfaces of the IXL system, and complexity of yard layouts.
- Identify trackside equipment to be controlled and detected, application conditions related to trackside engineering, and migration needs to be satisfied by the IXL solution.
- Define and lead the design of pre-fitted solutions of Central Interlocking Computer, Remote Area Controllers, and Safe HMI Clients in terms of racks and cubicle housing, internal cabling, power supply needs, and interfaces towards other subsystems/equipment.
- Organize and lead activities for the production of an exhaustive documental set to permit the correct assembly and off-site testing of pre-fitted solutions.
- Ensure the application and adherence to reference processes applicable to the solution design, methods, and tools, requesting deviations whenever appropriate.
- Support installation and test and commissioning teams during the first installation of the solution and its testing.
- Share and spread knowledge of the IXL system architecture features to the project engineering community.
- Represent Alstom in front of customers to provide detailed explanations of the IXL architecture solution and features.
- Select and manage subcontractors, if any.
- Manage work packages or related tasks assigned for the definition of new IXL architecture and pre-fitted solutions.
Requirements:
- Engineering Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Automation Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- P. Eng certification or in progress.
- 0 to 3 years of experience in relevant positions (systems/sub-systems application design or integration, electrotechnical product development) in a highly complex and normative environment (railway signaling, aerospace, defense).
Desirable:
- Good analytical skills and previous experience in system design and integration.
- Knowledge of IXL Systems, safety principles, and power supply background.
- Knowledge of IXL Alstom product.
- IXL application design.
