About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Chief Procurement Officer for our North America Packaging team. As a key member of our Strategic Procurement team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing short- and long-term purchasing strategies that deliver best-in-class results in the areas of people, processes, costs, and supply. You will work closely with our global procurement team to develop networking relationships and ensure that purchased materials, suppliers, and services are in compliance with our requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement short- and long-term purchasing strategies to reduce total costs of packaging without jeopardizing quality or business continuity.
  • Lead department working capital initiatives and assure progress against project timelines and deliverables.
  • Partner with operations, finance, quality, R&D, supply chain, sales, and marketing groups to provide purchasing leadership and insight at the North American level.
  • Develop and lead a high-performing team of purchasing professionals by hiring appropriate talent and providing training, development, performance feedback, and stretch objectives.

What You Will Bring

  • A minimum 15 years of leadership experience in purchasing environments within packaging categories.
  • A minimum 7 years of leadership experience.
  • SAP or similar business systems experience.
  • French language skills are an asset.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence others towards a common objective.
  • Knowledge of milk, yogurt, cheese, and food packaging.
  • Strategic, tactical, and analytical skills, with a systematic perspective on strategic pictures and a clear vision of department direction.
  • Detailed understanding of an overall business and purchasing function, including purchasing strategy, supplier management, purchasing category management, cost management, budgeting, and controlling.
  • Highly business-focused and proactive.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle workload and complexity.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
