We are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to join our team as Executive Director of the Burlington Performing Arts Centre (BPAC). As the chief operating officer, you will be responsible for maintaining an effective and fiscally responsible operating model for the performing arts centre.
About the Role- Reporting to the Board of Directors, you will oversee the general operations, financial management, and reporting of the BPAC.
- You will be responsible for programming, strategy implementation, general administration, revenue generation, and community liaison.
- You will lead a team of 12 full-time and 45 part-time staff, as well as 130 volunteers.
The Burlington Performing Arts Centre is a state-of-the-art facility located in the heart of downtown Burlington. With a seating capacity of 718, it is the performance home to many regional groups. The Centre is LEED-certified and features a six-story fly tower and an orchestra pit.
The ideal candidate will have previous senior experience in leading performing arts venues, a minimum of seven years of not-for-profit arts venue management with budgets of $1.5 to 5 million, and a university degree in arts and/or business management or equivalent experience in facility management and administration.
The Executive Director will have excellent financial and organizational skills, with demonstrated leadership in human resources management, community partnerships, board relations, and fund-raising.
Other necessary characteristics include political savvy and diplomacy, good oral and written communication skills, and knowledge of ancillary businesses such as catering, ticketing, corporate rentals, and the like.
The Executive Director must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, the Board of Directors, the media, artists, artist managers, other arts groups, sponsors, educational institutions, volunteers, and the audience.
In addition, the Executive Director must work well and inspire with the excellent staff team and board currently in place.
