Job Summary:

The Facilities Technician is a key member of the operations team at Coast Capital, working under the direction of the Facilities Management Group. This role involves completing approved service requests, managing facilities-related renovation projects, and providing professional service to internal employees and sub-tenants.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete approved service requests, utilizing skills and expertise to efficiently complete tasks within scope.
  • Manage facilities-related renovation projects, coordinating with trades and ensuring timely completion.
  • Provide professional service to internal employees and sub-tenants, addressing facilities issues and resolving problems.
  • Review and authorize invoices for materials and services, ensuring compliance with approved limits.
  • Submit weekly and monthly reports, maintaining accurate and legible records.
  • Ensure the Maintenance Request reports and Facilities Management Program are up-to-date and current.
  • Report the status of FM renovation projects, providing timely updates to stakeholders.
  • Assist customers in assessing facilities issues and problems, working collaboratively to resolve them.
  • Return messages from internal or external customers, landlords, and property managers in a timely and professional manner.
  • Be on call on a 24/7 rotational basis, supporting the organization's need to protect its assets and respond to after-hours emergencies.
  • Prioritize routine service requests, ensuring work is completed efficiently, accurately, and within approved budget and schedule.
  • Liaise with office, branch staff, and sub-tenants to ensure work is completed satisfactorily.
  • Correct defects or deficiencies in physical assets, either by repairing the issue directly or coordinating with the appropriate trade person.
  • Source and negotiate goods and services required to complete service requests, considering cost efficiency.
  • Perform day-to-day maintenance and repair functions, including replacing light fixtures and ballasts, recycling, moving furniture, and general repairs.
  • Plan and schedule FM branch and office space renovations, coordinating with contractors and tradespeople as needed.
  • Operate equipment safely and securely, adhering to Coast Capital's policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all workplace hazards and hazardous materials policies and regulations are adhered to.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment, ensuring staff, customer, and public safety at all times.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years of FM or Trades experience, with a self-starter mentality and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • High School Diploma plus completion of a Certificate Program (equivalent to one full year or 10 courses).
  • Recognized training courses in technical skills and trades that apply to Facilities Management and Building Operations.
  • A valid British Columbia Driver's License, with a responsible and safe driving record.
  • Broad construction or Facilities maintenance-related work experience, with a focus on hands-on general maintenance and repair.
  • Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision, with good judgement and decision-making skills for resolving maintenance and repair-related issues.
  • Ability to deal cooperatively and communicate effectively with people in a wide variety of circumstances.
  • Collaboration, planning, and member focus skills, with a dedication to meeting the requirements of members and delivering products and services that meet their needs.
