About the Opportunity

Rio Tinto is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering Co-op student to join our Discipline Engineering Department in Labrador City, NL.

Job Summary

We are offering a 4-month internship (January to April) in support of our Capital Sustaining projects team. As a Mechanical Engineering Co-op student, you will have the opportunity to work on research, design, development, testing, and maintenance of aspects of mining, mineral process operations, and capital project development and execution.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Capital Sustaining projects team in the development and execution of capital projects
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify opportunities for process improvements
  • Develop and implement design solutions to meet project requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project deliverables are met
  • Provide technical support to the project team as needed

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Civil or Mechanical Engineering program
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Valid driving license
  • Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken
