Job Summary

The DC Operations Supervisor plays a critical role in supporting the overall DC financial plan by ensuring orders are completed accurately, safely, and on time. This role is responsible for supervising hourly warehouse associates and promoting continuous improvement through Lean Six Sigma methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Associate Operations Manager, ensures all hourly employees have the tools and training required to complete work tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Supervises hourly warehouse associates on achieving daily performance requirements and recognizes and rewards employees for safe work practices and performance metrics.
  • Promotes continuous improvement through Lean Six Sigma methodologies and administers policy and procedure within legal guidelines.
  • Administers performance management in consultation with the Associate Operations Manager and Director of Operations.
  • Builds and maintains a strong working relationship with the union through knowledge and understanding of the Collective agreement and communication.
  • Provides input into projected plans and uses cost factors to effectively make sound decisions.
  • Manages production work flow and utilizes multi-warehouse systems to predict and direct work flow.
  • Participates in the setting of objectives and strategies along with daily tactical planning, budgeting, and workforce requirements.
  • Schedules work for the daily activities of the work groups to maximize available resources.

Requirements

  • University/College degree with a focus on Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, or similar technical area of focus.
  • 2 years leadership experience with a Degree or 3 to 5 years leadership work experience.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the order fulfillment process, collective bargaining agreement, HR policies & procedures.
  • Ability to adapt to and work in a variety of situations to support the organizational goals.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily works in a unionized, warehouse environment with exposures to conveyor noise, power equipment, and dust.
  • Must wear safety shoes and adhere to all Health & Safety practices.
  • Minimal physical effort is required, but walking and standing on concrete floors is considerable.
  • There are numerous time constraints to meet customer requirements and deadlines.
  • Late hours and overtime are required as needed, with occasional weekend work.
