About the Role:
Forest View Hospital, a leading psychiatric facility, is seeking a highly skilled Intake Team Lead to join our Assessment and Referral Center. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing guidance and support to our staff in the provision of patient access to care and behavioral health assessment services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct day-to-day department operations and admissions process
- Coordinate and lead the onboarding and training process
- Direct the screening of potential patients for admission into the hospital and initiate the integrated assessment process
- Ensure the staff schedule and configuration meet the needs and demands of the hospital and patients served
- Ensure the assessments and work assignments are evenly distributed among the nursing staff
- Monitor all assessment appointments/informational calls 24 hours a day and prepare appropriate forms
- Plan, coordinate, and evaluate direct and indirect facility assessments and patient admissions
- Ensure that all vital patient assessment information is referred accurately to the attending physicians, and that patient historical information obtained is complete to facilitate an accurate determination for the appropriate level of care
- Assist Assessment & Referral Director in preparing reports to communicate pertinent census information, referral sources, pending admissions and follow-up action pending admissions, pending discharges and nature of discharge
- Provide guidance to community resources available to persons inappropriate or unavailable for admission but who are requiring further guidance and referrals
- Assure patient's rights are upheld in compliance with all state and federal regulations
- Provide services to current referral sources to assure their satisfaction and continued associations
- Ensure all patient, family, and referral complaints are promptly handled
- Monitor and encourage staff to take their 30-minute unpaid breaks
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse, Bachelors preferred or master's degree in social work, psychology, or related field
- 1-2 years of admissions and referral experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting preferred
- Knowledge of patient assessment, family motivating treatment planning techniques
- Knowledge of external review organizations (i.e., managed care, Medicare, Medicaid, state gate keeper for Medicaid)
- Knowledge of patients' rights, advanced directives, adult and child abuse laws, and emergency detention
- Knowledge of complex patient care planning, utilization, and crisis intervention techniques
- Effective leadership and negotiation skills
