Job Summary

We are seeking a Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our team in Waterloo. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Pharmacy Manager in the day-to-day management of workload, collaborating with Pharmacists and Pharmacy Assistants to fulfill prescription orders, and performing an independent double check for repeat prescription release.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Pharmacy Manager in the day-to-day management of workload;
  • Collaborate with Pharmacists and Pharmacy Assistants to fulfill prescription orders;
  • Perform an independent double check for repeat prescription release;
  • Verify that the customer receives correct prescription(s);
  • Identify potential therapeutic issues and seek the Pharmacist's therapeutic check;
  • Work collaboratively with Rx Connect Specialty Pharmacy Patient Programs in fulfilling pharmacy responsibilities;
  • Prepare/review and process billings, claims, disbursements, and related documents;
  • Assist patients who are picking up prescriptions;
  • Enter prescriptions into the computer; retrieve and/or correct data in computer;
  • Screen calls and gather relevant information for Pharmacist;
  • Order, maintain, and prepare inventory of medications;
  • Review invoices or other documentation;
  • Pack and ship prescription orders;
  • Receive and maintain accurate inventory;
  • Communicate with patients, prescribers, healthcare professionals, and other key players to support patients through their treatment journey;
  • Verify and investigate insurance coverage and benefits for patients, including eligibility, co-payments, deductibles, and prior authorizations;
  • Gather and document information from patients/caregivers/prescribers in a concise, organized, and professional manner;
  • Complete, submit, and follow-up on requisite paperwork in a timely manner;
  • Liaise with private and public insurance providers to determine coverage options;
  • Act as a central liaison for stakeholders such as physicians, nurses, patients, and clinics and provide required updates;
  • The Registered Pharmacy Technician will also be assigned other duties and tasks as required from time to time.
Requirements
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) with the Ontario College of Pharmacists;
  • Two or more years of related pharmacy experience;
  • Proficiency in Kroll;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel);
  • Organized with the ability to multi-task and maintain accuracy;
  • Excellent knowledge of pharmacy operations;
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
  • Excellent time management skills;
  • Bilingualism, French/English is an asset.
