About the Opportunity

FortisBC is seeking an Indigenous Leadership Program Intern to join our Community and Indigenous Initiatives department. As a member of our team, you will support Indigenous Initiatives in a variety of tasks, including internal and external stakeholder engagement and major projects initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Build upon relationships between FortisBC and local communities, municipalities, and Indigenous communities
  • Provide support to the Community & Indigenous Initiatives team, including: Municipal and Indigenous community engagement; Tracking and reporting Communications Event planning, coordination and attendance Attending internal and external project meetings Develop and deliver presentations to internal and external audiences Perform administrative duties as assigned

Requirements

  • A keen interest in community and relationship building, including municipal and Indigenous community engagement;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a passion for working with people;
  • Strong organizational and project management skills;
  • An ability to convey complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner in order to influence positive change.
  • Good verbal and written communication, and presentation skills
  • Understanding of the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Murdered & Missing Indigenous Women & Girls Inquiry Calls for Justice, as well as British Columbia's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples
  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office
