Data Governance Specialist

Are you a data governance expert looking for a new challenge? We're seeking a skilled Data Governance Specialist to join our team at Scotiabank.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive data governance frameworks to ensure data quality and consistency across the organization.
  • Implement and oversee data governance policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and business objectives.
  • Manage the data lifecycle, including classification, storage, retention, and deletion, to ensure data integrity and compliance.
  • Collaborate with data office and data stewards to maintain data governance standards and resolve data-related issues.
  • Utilize data governance tools to maintain data catalogs, data lineage, and metadata management, facilitating easy access to data assets.
  • Lead and execute data governance initiatives, collaborating with data stewards and business units to achieve data consistency and standardization.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven expertise in data governance frameworks and understanding of data protection regulations and compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement data governance policies and procedures that ensure data accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
  • Proficiency in SQL, data mining, and data observability best practices.
  • Ability to lead data governance initiatives and projects, including the development of data dictionaries, business glossaries, and reference data management.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments and data governance tools.
  • Bilingualism in Spanish/English is an asset.
