Parts Desk Manager

Are you a seasoned inventory management professional looking for a new challenge in the gas compression industry? Our client, a global leader in gas compressor package design, assembly, service, and retrofit, is seeking an experienced Parts Desk Manager to lead their dedicated parts team.

As a Parts Desk Manager, you'll oversee daily operations of the parts department, ensuring all orders, inventory counts, and records are managed accurately and efficiently to meet operational needs. You'll collaborate closely with vendors to secure reliable parts sources, negotiate pricing, and maintain optimal stock levels, ensuring parts are readily available to support service demands.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead, mentor, and develop a parts team of up to 10 employees, creating a positive and productive work environment that encourages accountability, continuous improvement, and individual growth.
* Oversee daily operations of the parts department, ensuring all orders, inventory counts, and records are managed accurately and efficiently to meet operational needs.
* Collaborate closely with vendors to secure reliable parts sources, negotiate pricing, and maintain optimal stock levels, ensuring parts are readily available to support service demands.
* Monitor and enforce adherence to company policies, procedures, and industry standards within the team, holding staff accountable for quality and timely completion of tasks.
* Take ownership of the team's performance metrics, using data-driven analysis to identify areas for process improvement, increase productivity, and reduce operational costs.
* Drive inventory control measures, performing regular cycle counts, audits, and assessments to ensure accurate, up-to-date records that minimize discrepancies and downtime.
* Partner with cross-functional departments to streamline operations, communicating clearly with design, assembly, and retrofit teams to anticipate parts needs and improve efficiency.
* Support recruitment, onboarding, and training for new hires, reinforcing a strong team culture focused on service excellence, problem-solving, and proactive support for customers.

Requirements:

* 3-5 years in parts management, preferably within the gas compression, automotive, or manufacturing industries, with hands-on knowledge of inventory control, order fulfillment, and vendor management.
* Proven ability to lead, coach, and hold a team accountable, with experience in recruiting, training, and developing staff to build a cohesive and efficient department.
* Familiarity with parts identification, stock forecasting, procurement processes, and ERP systems to ensure accurate inventory management and streamlined operations.
* Strong problem-solving and data analysis skills to monitor key performance metrics, optimize inventory levels, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
