Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and process bi-weekly payroll for 75 employees, ensuring accurate calculation of wages, deductions, and overtime;
  • Process government remittances and payroll-related reporting, including CRA, WCB, EHT, etc.;
  • Update and maintain the Payworks system and database;
  • Administer and support the employee benefits program;
  • Track employee time off requests, including vacations and sick leaves;
  • Perform bookkeeping tasks as assigned;
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs);
  • Provide data and support for reconciliations and financial reporting;
  • Address and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries;
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding payroll and employee information;
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in payroll administration;
  • Implement best practices to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy;
  • Complete custom reporting for program evaluations;
  • Additional responsibilities as required.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years' of progressive payroll experience;
  • Previous recent and extensive experience working with QuickBooks Online or Payworks is required;
  • Certified Payroll Practitioner designation from the Canadian Payroll Association would be considered a strong asset;
  • Experience and knowledge of required payroll reporting (CRA, WorkSafe BC, etc.) and benefits administration;
  • Strong computer literacy, including excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Experience working with Google Workspace would be considered a strong asset;
  • Experience working with a government-funded agency such as CLBC or MCFD would be considered an asset;
  • Excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities;
  • Ability to handle data with confidentiality and integrity;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Well-organized with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical thinking;
  • The ability to thrive in a team-based environment, although you are self-motivated and able to function autonomously;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative work style.

The estimated salary for this position is $37-$42 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will also be eligible to participate in the company's benefits program. This hybrid role offers flexibility with a minimum of 20 hours per week being in office.
