Project Control Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Control Specialist to join our team at Cpus Engineering Staffing Solutions Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing project controls systems, coordinating front-end planning processes, and facilitating project metrics reporting and variance analysis.
Key Responsibilities- Project Controls: Develop and maintain updated and accurate conceptual phase schedules, load approved project plans into project control systems, and set up source systems to ensure alignment with project control systems.
- Front-End Planning: Coordinate, facilitate, and drive front-end planning processes, provide recommendations on execution of value engineering and project definition rating index (PDRI) workshops, and initiate risk profiling and project breakdown structure development.
- Project Monitoring & Control: Perform weekly schedule updates, cost and schedule analysis, and update schedule and cost forecasts accordingly. Facilitate project metrics reporting and variance analysis, and identify actual and potential deviations from approved budgets or schedules.
- Change Management: Ensure approved change control processes are followed, prepare and obtain approval of change control documentation, and timely update project cost and schedule once change approval or direction has been approved.
- Cost & Schedule: Maintain project schedule quality and accuracy, reconcile financial systems and project controls system, and ensure accurate project cost forecasting.
- Interface with Cross Functional Groups: Interface with stakeholders to ensure project plans are accurately updated and maintained, and interface with finance to ensure financial systems reflect project plan and are aligned with project controls system.
- Business Planning: Set up and maintain project control budgets, annual business plan and control budget development and analysis.
- Purchase Order Analysis & Reporting: Ensure source systems are set up correctly to maintain alignment between costs and assigned budgets in project plan, and populate project control systems to accurately capture and allow monitoring of costs.
- Closeout Phase: Facilitate and support project financial close-out process, final reconciliation, and finalize/close out project controls and source systems.
- Miscellaneous: Assist with continuous improvement of PMO processes and procedures, and maintain document project file which provides an auditable trail throughout the project lifecycle.
- Education: Completion of a four-year university degree in an appropriate field such as Business, Finance, or Engineering.
- Experience: 6-8 years of experience in project controls principles, theories, and concepts such as project scoping, risk management, estimating, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, relevant business and computer applications knowledge, and experience with corporate financial processes and departmental and divisional interfaces.
