Overview

The Toronto Community Housing is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data-Driven Crime Intelligence Specialist to join their team. As a Field Intelligence Officer, you will play a crucial role in facilitating the flow of information/intelligence between TCHC, Community Safety Unit and the Intelligence Services of TPS.

Salary Range

The estimated annual salary for this position is $93,000 - $112,000, depending on experience.

Job Description

As a Data-Driven Crime Intelligence Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Receiving and assessing intelligence information of a confidential nature
  • Facilitating the flow of information/intelligence between TCHC, Community Safety Unit and the Intelligence Services of TPS
  • Supporting a collection plan and reporting of information from the TCHC CSU to TPS Division/Units and to TPS Intelligence Services
  • Serving as the in-house liaison to access TPS Intelligence Services resources
  • Reviewing all pertinent arrest records, occurrence reports from TCHC CSU for potential intelligence value
  • Conferencing with field officers regarding pertinent arrests or investigations for potential intelligence value
  • Physically participating in CSU or TPS operational Intelligence probes to identify and fill in information gaps
  • Providing TPS and relevant stakeholders with timely, relevant, accurate and concise intelligence products
  • Attending meetings, focus groups or seminars with other FIO's and TPS Intelligence Operatives from Intelligence Services
  • Actively participating in TPS Division/Units crime management strategies and meetings
  • Reporting regularly to their Unit Commander or designate by way of Intelligence Officer Briefing
  • Reporting regularly to Intelligence Services by way of Intelligence report or briefing
  • Training Divisional/Unit personnel regarding the "Intelligence Cycle" and promoting intelligence gathering by developing officer's skills and motivation
  • Supervising unionized staff on a project-to-project basis
  • Liaising with CSU Sergeants to contribute to assessments of unionized staff and other supervisory duties as required

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • A college diploma or university undergraduate degree in law, public administration, criminal justice, sociology, or related field or experience
  • Special Constable Designation with at least 3-5 years of experience
  • Previous experience as a 1st Class Police Constable
  • Adherence to Core Values of the Service
  • Demonstrated commitment and support for the application, development and advancement of criminal intelligence operations
  • Specialized knowledge of criminal groups or individuals
  • Cultural knowledge or sensitivity
  • Leadership and supervisory-related skills
  • Training or knowledge in current social media applications
  • Training or knowledge of covert tactics
  • Training or knowledge of covert technology and associated legal issues
  • Full security and police clearance including fingerprinting and background check
  • Valid, non-probationary, Province of Ontario class "G" or greater driver's license
