Job Summary
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join the Tuberculosis Unit at Vancouver General Hospital. As a Registered Nurse with VCH, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating client care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and plan client care, implementing and evaluating interventions as needed.
- Participate in discharge planning, advocating for clients and their families, and educating them on health promotion and wellness.
- Document care provided and respond to incidents in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Consult and collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care.
- Maintain and advance clinical competence through ongoing education and training.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability in nursing practice related to the designated client group.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement care plans.
- Demonstrated ability to adjust to unexpected events, problem-solve, set priorities, and deal with conflict.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated ability to counsel and teach clients and their families.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership through initiative and independence.
- Demonstrated skill in clinical techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies.
- Demonstrated skill in CPR techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment, including the effective use of a computerized client care information system.
- Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
