As a Claims Consultant in our Property Large Loss team, you will play a critical role in managing complex claims, analyzing data, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve our goals.

Job Overview:

As a seasoned professional with at least 10 years of experience in handling large and complex commercial property claims, you will be responsible for managing claims through all distribution channels, including direct handling, monitoring, and negotiation. You will work closely with our team to provide expert guidance on claims handling, dispute resolution, and process management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, investigate, analyze, and resolve complex commercial property claims with exposures over $1M, involving specialized losses within Canada and internationally;
  • Engage and manage internal and external counsel, consultants, adjusters, accountants, and engineers to confirm coverage, determine liability, and assess damages;
  • Mentor and guide regional file handlers to ensure consistent and effective claims handling, supporting long-term succession planning;
  • Train colleagues on complex claims handling, leveraging your expertise to drive best practices;
  • Collaborate with Underwriting, Loss Prevention, and other stakeholders to identify potential risks, sharing feedback and lessons learned;
  • Deliver and exceed on key performance indicators related to loss development, loss adjustment expenses, claims leakage control, and expense management;
  • Leverage your skills in a creative environment to support best practice operations;
  • Negotiate claims effectively, attending settlement conferences and trials as needed.
  • Attend loss locations, client meetings, and broker meetings as required.
