Financial Operations Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Analyst to join our team in Guelph, Ontario. As an Accounting Analyst, you will be responsible for assisting with professional accounting tasks and analysis of financial data in support of various accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Payroll, Cost Accounting, and General Accounting.
Key Responsibilities- Record monthly journal entries to ensure accurate financial records.
- Reconcile and maintain a full understanding of all balance sheet and income statements to identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare detailed monthly variance analysis of balance sheet accounts to inform business decisions.
- Review, code, and process approved invoices through to payment and filing to optimize cash flow.
- Manage accounts receivable and ensure that monthly revenues are collected on time to meet business objectives.
- Prepare monthly HST remittance and federal tax installments to comply with regulatory requirements.
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations to detect any discrepancies or irregularities.
- Maintain all accounting files in an organized and efficient manner to facilitate easy access and retrieval.
- Assist the Finance Manager with ad hoc tasks and/or special assignments as requested to support business needs.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a related position, preferably in accounting or finance.
- Post-Secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required.
- Strong accounting skills and ability to apply accounting theory, principles, and techniques to make informed decisions.
- Knowledgeable in auditing practices and principles to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Practiced in the set up and maintenance of spreadsheets and databases as well as organizing data to prepare reports and financial documentation.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to analyze complex financial data and identify areas for improvement.
- Demonstrated experience in accounting software such as Simply, Accpac, Quickbooks, Yardi, etc.
