About This Role

This Registered Practical Nurse position offers a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of patients. You will provide nursing care, participate in inter-professional care teams, and support a safe environment for patients. Your expertise will contribute to creating a positive patient experience and contributing to the hospital's mission.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Plan, manage, and evaluate nursing care for patients and families within the RPN scope of practice.
  2. Use current theoretical and research knowledge to plan and implement care for patients and families.
  3. Participate in inter-professional team care planning forums, rounds, and family conferences.
  4. Provide mentorship to RPN students and new staff on the unit.
  5. Comply with patient safety responsibilities and hospital plans, policies, and procedures.

Requirements and Qualifications

  1. Member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  2. Diploma preparation as an RPN in a recognized education program for Nursing preferred.
  3. Current medication certificate (if not included in diploma program).
  4. Medical asepsis preferred (if not included in diploma program).
  5. Experience in Complex Continuing Care preferred.
  6. Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support (C level) Heart Saver Plus (Canada).
  7. Member, Registered Practical Nurses Association of Ontario (RPNAO), preferred.
  8. Well-developed clinical decision-making skills that reflect patient-centeredness, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
  9. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  10. Ability to identify and meet own learning needs for ongoing professional development.
