About the Role
  • Compute taxes owed, prepare personal and corporate tax returns, and review year-end tax forms (T4s/T5s) to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Support corporate re-organizations and restructuring projects to minimize risk and maximize efficiency.
  • Conduct thorough tax research to stay updated on current tax laws and regulations, providing valuable insights and recommendations to the team.
  • Evaluate existing business processes and policies to advise on policy and tax changes, developing proactive tax strategies that leverage business opportunities and promote effective operations.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with clients and government agencies to address tax compliance issues and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Develop comprehensive reports, summaries, and presentations outlining engagement findings, highlighting key facts and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with client engagement teams to discuss roles, responsibilities, risk areas, materiality, and deadlines, ensuring seamless project execution.
  • Lead engagement teams, coaching and mentoring junior team members to develop their skills and expertise.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major is preferred).
  • 2-4 years of relevant public accounting or tax experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act.
  • Experience working with accounting and tax software.
  • Completion of Level 1 of In-depth Tax Program and other specialist development courses is considered an asset.
