Job Title: Medical Science Liaison, Cross Therapy Area

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Science Liaison to join our team at GlaxoSmithKline. As a Medical Science Liaison, you will be responsible for applying your non-promotional medical acumen to ensure the safe and effective use of GSK's products across our Vaccines & Respiratory portfolios.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Scientific Peer-to-Peer Relationships: Identify, establish, and maintain scientific peer-to-peer relationships with key external experts by presenting balanced scientific data, supporting advanced medical educational opportunities, and providing scientific support with the highest of industry standards.
  • Therapeutic Area Expertise: Be recognized as the scientific field-based partner in the territory and maintain a deep understanding and knowledge of diseases, vaccines, treatments, and the competitive landscape to ensure excellent scientific dialogue and clinical knowledge translation aligned to business strategy.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Be agile and adaptable to engage and provide value across a continuum of both internal and external stakeholders (i.e., community care experts and other healthcare professionals, investigators, professional societies, organizations, advocacy groups, and decision-makers) in a non-promotional manner and be responsive to unsolicited inquiries.
  • Territory Planning: Build and implement comprehensive territory plans to meet medical targets and objectives.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Be a proactive and solutions-oriented partner as the primary interface between the healthcare community and the internal cross-functional GSK teams to gather and share back insights that inform current and future business strategies.
  • Scientific Congress Representation: Represent GSK at scientific congresses by providing session/abstract coverage, booth staffing coverage, leading external expert engagement plans, and contributing to scientific end-of-congress summaries/share-backs as required.
  • Training and Support: Provide scientific training for GSK sales representatives regarding GSK products and the conditions they treat utilizing approved sales training materials.
  • Investigator Initiated Studies and Real-World Evidence Projects: Assist the medical, clinical, and HEOR teams with Investigator Initiated Studies and real-world evidence projects as needed, and support identification of potential clinical trial sites for clinical development activities in Canada as required.
Qualifications:
  • An advanced post-graduate scientific degree (MD, PhD, etc.)
  • Exceptional aptitude to apply and leverage scientific and medical data with scientific credibility while enabling peer-to-peer discussion and debate
  • Excellent public speaker, with outstanding scientific presentation skills
  • Strong demonstration of strategic mindset in developing and executing comprehensive territory plans to achieve medical targets and objectives
  • Knowledge of regulations governing medical information exchange with healthcare professionals within the Canadian pharmaceutical environment
  • A valid driver's license is required for this field-based position
  • Ability to work independently and ability to travel throughout the territory up to 70% with evenings and weekends involved
