Recreation Programmer

We are seeking a highly skilled Recreation Programmer to join our team at North Vancouver Recreation & Culture. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing a variety of community-based recreation and social programs.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement recreation programs that promote interest and participation among community members
- Supervise staff to ensure effective program operations
- Work with community groups to plan and deliver programs that meet their needs
- Manage program budgets and operating schedules
- Collaborate with colleagues to promote inclusive opportunities for all community members
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Considerable knowledge of recreational, social, and cultural interests, requirements, and resources for people with disabilities and access considerations
- Sound knowledge of organized community recreation principles and practices
- Ability to work with program budgets and operating schedules; supervise; and assist community groups
- Direct experience working with people with disabilities and community in planning for services
- High level of interpersonal skills, flexibility, and adaptability, and the ability to work independently with sound judgment
You will need:
- College or University graduation with courses in leisure and recreation, or related subjects, supplemented by some related work experience in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of training and experience in a recreational environment
- A valid Class 5 BC driver's license and access to a vehicle for NVRC business
This is a temporary full-time position, working 35 hours per week, including shift work, days, evenings, and weekends. You will be required to work at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location.
Hourly RatesThe pay for this unionized position starts at $36.08 per hour and ranges to $42.45 per hour.
