About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a Senior Nurse Specialist in the Acute Medicine Unit at Burnaby Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate nurse to make a meaningful contribution to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients with acute medical conditions. They will work collaboratively with the interprofessional care team to provide person-centered care, advocate for patients' rights, and promote their autonomy in decision-making and care planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' needs and develop individualized care plans that address their physical, emotional, and social needs.
  • Collaborate with the interprofessional care team to coordinate patient care, prioritize tasks, and delegate responsibilities to support staff.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families/caregivers on topics essential to their health and well-being.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and research activities to enhance patient outcomes and improve care practices.
Requirements
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Experience working in an acute medicine unit or similar setting.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
