Job Summary

Pembina Hills School Division is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and supervising the financial software system, providing accurate financial and reporting information, and supporting senior administration and finance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise the daily financial operations, including the general ledger, journal entries, reports, and account structure.
  • Direct, supervise, and provide backup to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash-management functions.
  • Prepare daily, monthly bank reconciliations and execute funds transfers as required.
  • Prepare financial information on request for school sites, departments, external services, and financial administration.
  • Prepare required reporting to government entities, including Alberta Education and Canada Revenue Agency.
  • Reconcile, review, and allocate revenue received from various sources.
  • Provide support and training to schools and departments on front-line accounting and finance tasks.
  • Maintain communication with the auditor regarding interim and year-end audits.
  • Reconcile and prepare assets and liabilities reports.
  • Coordinate, oversee, and participate in the preparation of year-end working material for the interim and annual audit.
  • Act as a mediator for required audit information.
  • Ensure financial reports by the finance department are accurate and complete.
Qualifications
  • Experience managing a financial software system in a complex environment.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in a public sector finance or accounting environment.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and computer skills.
  • Certificate, diploma, or degree in accounting, business, or management. Accounting designation preferred.
