As an Emergency Department Healthcare Specialist, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient-focused care in the emergency department.

About the Role

You will work as part of a collaborative team of health professionals in an inter-professional model under the supervision and delegation of a supervising physician. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting patient interviews and taking medical histories, performing physical examinations, organizing laboratory and diagnostic investigations, and counseling patients on preventive health care.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must possess a strong educational background and relevant certifications. A graduate degree from McMaster University or the University of Toronto Consortium is preferred, along with certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant. Additionally, you should have current Basic Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Paediatric Advanced Life Support, and Neonatal Advanced Life Support certifications.

A minimum of experience working in an emergency department is desired, but not mandatory. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential, as well as the ability to work collaboratively within a medical team.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is between $85,000 and $115,000 per annum, based on your level of experience and qualifications.
