About the Role
This position plays a crucial role in protecting Great Canadian Entertainment's assets and providing a welcoming environment for guests. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for safeguarding our properties while delivering exceptional service to patrons and team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and report internal and external violations, unsafe conditions, potential hazards, suspicious persons, and activities;
- Enforce restricted access by unauthorized persons;
- Observe transactions, slot drops, chip fills, and transferring items to Lost & Found;
- Perform identification checks on guests under 30 years old;
- Refer disputes to the Supervisor, Security;
- Conduct regular patrols of the interior and exterior of the property as assigned;
- Escort guests and team members;
- Perform crowd control as directed;
- Attend to first aid incidents;
- Assist the Supervisor, Security with enrolling guests in the Self-Exclusion program;
- Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety, and other statutory regulations;
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A High School diploma or equivalent;
- Two (2) years of experience working with the public in a service role or in the service industry;
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution capabilities;
- Previous experience or training in security is an asset;
- OCCupational First Aid Level 2 considered an asset;
- Serving it Right Certification;
- An inquisitive and investigative mind, able to identify suspicious behaviors/transactions and make sound judgments based on this;
- A willingness to learn, develop, and achieve new skills for personal and professional development;
- Computer literacy in MS Office;
- The ability to organize data with great accuracy;
- Knowledge of privacy legislation is an asset;
- A self-motivator and ability to inspire other team members in enhancing the guest experience within the entertainment business;
- The ability to multi-task and prioritize;
- The ability to follow rules, regulations, policies, and procedures at all times;
- The ability to work independently, without close direct supervision, and apply good judgment and discretion under pressure;
- The ability to successfully obtain a Gaming License.
Work Environment Considerations
This role requires working in a regular casino/Racing environment, standing and walking for long periods of time, and non-traditional work hours.
