Health and Safety Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at PCL Constructors Canada Inc. in Charlottetown, PEI.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and assist in the implementation of project HSE plans, environmental plans, regulatory requirements, and safe work practices.
- Identify and conduct project-specific HSE training.
- Provide project teams with project-specific HSE information and trends, and assist in creating action plans.
- Assist in the development and implementation of hazard identification tools.
- Conduct project HSE inspections and verify corrective actions.
- Support project teams in implementing emergency response plans and monitoring project security requirements.
- Gather, review, and provide input on trade documentation, and monitor trade contractor safety compliance.
- Verify equipment and tool inspections are conducted and documented as per requirements.
- Notify stakeholders of incidents and support investigations.
Qualifications
- Working towards a Bachelor's degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Working towards a safety designation.
- 3 years of experience in a related industry.
- Knowledge of applicable OH&S, environmental legislation, and HSE processes.
- Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to coach and mentor others.
- Ability to provide and apply conflict resolution techniques with craft workers.
- Ability to develop, influence, and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
- Knowledge of construction processes and terminology.
- Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
