About the Opportunity

The Hants Health and Wellness Team is a community-based health initiative focusing on integrated chronic disease management, wellness, and health programming. As an Emotional Wellness Counsellor/Navigator, you will demonstrate flexibility and innovation in facilitating health and wellness programs and supporting citizens in accessing resources that promote healthy behaviors.

You will be responsible for:

  • Meeting with individuals and families with complex health needs to support them in prioritizing needs and navigating healthcare and community resources.
  • Counselling individuals and groups with mild to moderate emotional distress using a Solution-Focused Approach and providing brief interventions to promote self-management of emotional wellness.
  • Developing and facilitating group-based programs to address emotional wellness needs from a holistic perspective as well as customized for populations with chronic conditions.
  • Researching, developing, and maintaining awareness of resources within the community and surrounding areas through a community development and collaborative approach.
  • Developing community partnerships and conducting community engagement, collaborating with other multi-disciplinary team members.
About You

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a health profession such as Social Work or MEd in Counseling.
  • Registration with a professional regulatory association required.
  • 3-5 years related experience in mental health, primary healthcare, and community settings.
  • Experience working with individual counselling, group education, and facilitation using self-management principles.
  • Understanding of population health, health promotion strategies, and behaviour change principles.
Benefits

This permanent, full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $33.96-$42.89 hourly. Successful candidates may also be eligible for our benefits package, including health, dental, travel insurance, and a defined benefit pension plan.
