About the Role

The YMCA of Northern Alberta is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our Community team. As a Follow Up Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals, couples, and families who are chronically or episodically homeless with multiple barriers and high needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage caseloads, completing assessments, evaluations, and documentation to ensure effective support services.
  • Secure housing and rehousing, ensuring participants are settled in safe, affordable, suitable, and sustainable housing.
  • Implement and evaluate participant support services within the Housing First Philosophy, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills with vulnerable populations.
  • Collaborate with external service providers and community partners to support participants' needs.
  • Adhere to YMCA policies, procedures, and standards of conduct, ensuring a professional and safe work environment.
Requirements
  • University degree in a Human Services or related field.
  • 2 years' experience working directly with vulnerable populations.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR, Child Welfare & Police Security Clearance with vulnerable sector check.
  • Annual registration in a professional organization, if applicable.
  • WHMIS Certification, preferred.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and Suicide Intervention Certification, preferred.
  • Valid driver's license, clear driver's abstract, and access to a vehicle.
  • Experience working with cultural groups, high needs, and marginalized populations.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
