About the Role

The Senior Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for managing and estimating the process for assigned projects requiring special expertise. This includes working closely with the team and stakeholders, undertaking value engineering, completing cost-saving exercises, and developing the project budget.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with the owner and the owner's agents.
  2. Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing for estimates.
  3. Manage the estimating process, including site conditions, safety requirements, interpreting drawings and specifications, preparing quantity surveys, and pricing estimates.
  4. Work with the owners and owner's consultants to resolve any questions or ambiguities with the tender documents.
  5. Provide assistance to management for risk analysis.
  6. Attend meetings to meet the requirements of the estimating process.
  7. Research labour laws for the project.
  8. Obtain the correct rates and appropriate 'add-ons'.
  9. Coordinate efforts in contacting labour unions to secure labour rate relief.
  10. Assist the Chief Estimator by preparing subcontractor/supplier bid analysis.

Requirements

The Senior Mechanical Estimator will be required to have the following:

  1. 10+ years of experience in a managerial estimating position in the industrial sector.
  2. Experience with using Accubid.
  3. Experience with Piping and Instruction Diagram.
  4. Ability to work in the office and on site.
  5. E.T., Gold Seal Certification in Estimating and/or Project Management is preferred.
  6. Exceptional communication skills.
  7. Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents.

Compensation

Salary: $130,000 - $160,000

Benefits

15 days of vacation, full and extended benefits, annual bonus, and RRSP contributions up to 18%.
