Accessible Education Liaison

Job Summary
The Accessible Education Liaison will work under the supervision of the Accessible Education and Training Instructor to support students with disabilities in the BEST and SAME programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising community-based activities, providing job search support, and promoting Accessible Education and Training programs in the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students in organizing and completing information interviews, job shadows, and work experience placements
- Market Accessible Education and Training programs to employers, high schools, and community agencies
- Visit placement sites to ensure quality training and provide hands-on support to students and work experience hosts
- Meet regularly with the BEST Instructor to plan employment options, discuss strategies and supports, and evaluate student progress
- Support students in locating and connecting with employment agencies, practicing self-advocacy and assertiveness skills, and disclosing disability
Requirements
- Graduation from a four-year college or university program in a related area, such as social services
- Over 1 year and up to and including 2 years of related experience working with adults with special needs in a post-secondary environment
- Strong planning, marketing, and presentation skills, as well as excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
Working Conditions
This is a part-time, sessional support position that operates from September to June annually. The successful candidate will work 12 hours per week, typically on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
