Job Summary

BCIT's School of Construction and the Environment is seeking a temporary, full-time Boilermaker Instructor to teach in our Boilermaker program. The successful candidate will have a strong background in boilermaking and experience in teaching or supervisory roles.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver face-to-face classroom instruction to apprentice or entry-level students.
  • Prepare and present classroom lessons, including lectures and practical demonstrations.
  • Evaluate student work and assess the quality of program curriculum and instruction.
  • Maintain a safe work environment for staff and students.
  • Collaborate with other Faculty members to develop and deliver programs.
  • Work with the Steel Trades Department Head to ensure program excellence.
Qualifications
  • BC Trades Qualification with Inter-provincial Red Seal Status in Boilermaking.
  • Minimum of five years' current experience as a journeyperson.
  • Previous supervisory or teaching experience is an asset.
  • Demonstrated skills and abilities necessary to instruct the curriculum.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Provincial Instructor Diploma (or willingness to achieve such) is an asset.
  • Welding ticket is an asset.
  • Current computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
