Director of Surface Infrastructure Development

Starboard Recruitment is seeking a highly experienced Director of Surface Infrastructure Development to lead the delivery of surface infrastructure projects for a leading Canadian mining company.
About the RoleThe Director of Surface Infrastructure Development will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all activities related to the engineering, procurement, and construction management of surface infrastructure on the project. This includes ensuring compliance with project delegations of authority, procedures, and policies.
You will work closely with the Vice President, Project Development, and other stakeholders to deliver the objectives for the surface infrastructure project area. Your expertise in managing remote construction sites in the mining industry will be invaluable in driving the success of this project.
Key Responsibilities- Develop strategies for execution, determine appropriate construction and contracting methods for economic constructability, and proactively identify and mitigate risk
- Interface with Environment, Permitting, and Licensing teams to ensure necessary permits and licenses are identified and tracked for surface infrastructure related activities
- Facilitate review and provide feedback and endorsement for surface infrastructure estimates, budgets, forecasts, and schedules
- Establish and fulfill governance and oversight role for the company when managing external contractors, including EPCM
We are looking for a candidate with 10+ years of leadership and management experience in the design, procurement, development, and management of remote construction sites in the mining industry. You should have a strong understanding of complex projects, their interfaces, and interdependencies.
A degree in Engineering or an equivalent combination of formal education, training, and experience is required. You should also have excellent interpersonal skills, ability to build and maintain relationships, and communicate directly with project leadership on key issues.
