We are an employee-owned, award-winning architectural practice firm with a proven track record in practical, innovative, and economical design. Our team has designed some of Canada's most notable buildings.

With offices throughout Canada, we serve both Canadian and international clients with the immediacy and attention of a local service. Our design influence can be found in eight of Canada's provinces and in Nunavut.

Parkin Architects Limited is staffed with over 100 experienced architects, designers, project managers, and administrative staff, including LEED, Evidence-Based Design, and LEAN accredited professionals. Many of our team members are dedicated to specific market sectors. We believe in personalizing the design experience for clients and maintaining a hands-on approach to projects. Every project we undertake has the direct involvement of Directors and Principals. We promote mutual trust and address the full scope of a facility's operational requirements, from technology and space needs to optimizing everyday movements, employee health, well-being, and productivity.

Senior Architect / Planner Role and Responsibilities

As a Senior Architect / Planner, you will:

  • Understand the differences in institutional and business occupancy environments.
  • Work with end users to outline process flows and critical adjacencies.
  • Understand and guide discussions on equipment needs.
  • Lead the planning process within the design team to create department floor plan concepts reflective of operations.
  • Manage the deliverables for the planning team within the greater project deliverable schedule.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for the client on planning issues.
  • Mentor staff for depth and support of the specialized knowledge execution process.
Qualifications and Education Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree in architecture.
  • A minimum of 10 years of healthcare planning experience, with proven experience in clinical planning leadership and knowledge of architectural design and code requirements.
  • Proficiency with Revit.
  • Strong presentation, communication, organizational, team building, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Preferred Skills

We are looking for candidates with:

  • A Master of Architecture from an accredited program.
  • Registration as an Architect.
