Academic Faculty Member

Thompson Rivers University is seeking an experienced academic faculty member to teach HUMS 1770: Introduction to Human Service Practice with Indigenous Communities at the Williams Lake Campus. This course focuses on the historical and ongoing impacts of colonization in Canada and the resulting societal, political, linguistic, spiritual, and cultural challenges faced by Indigenous peoples today.
Key Responsibilities- Teach HUMS 1770: Introduction to Human Service Practice with Indigenous Communities at the Williams Lake Campus.
- Develop culturally appropriate curricula and integrate Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods.
- Build student capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect.
- Have a minimum of five years of related practice experience and educational specialization for content-specific courses.
- Demonstrate experience in teaching excellence and integrating Indigenous knowledge.
- Doctoral degree with an MSW preferred.
- Successful teaching experience in post-secondary institutions.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in building student capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect.
- Skills and experience in Secwepemc language(s) and culture(s) is required.
- Experience in Indigenous curriculum development relevant to Secwepemc is an asset.
