Our St. Catharines office has an immediate opening for a full-time Taxation Specialist.
Reporting to Partners and Managers, you will be responsible for:
- Compliance review of tax returns for individuals, corporations, trusts, and partnerships, and the related foreign reporting requirements;
- Participating in tax planning engagements and preparing technical tax memos;
- Preparing instruction letters for the execution of corporate reorganizations, estate & post-mortem tax planning, business succession planning, and the purchase & sale of a business;
- Conducting tax research and interpreting tax legislation and proposed legislative changes;
- Providing technical expertise as an internal resource to staff who need tax support on their client files or on specific questions from their clients;
- Preparing client correspondence, including reports & analysis, discussion of technical issues and recommendations, and attending client meetings where appropriate;
- Providing assistance to other offices of the Firm, as required, and collaborating with other service lines across the firm.
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience in Public Accounting
- 3-5 years of work experience with Canadian Income Taxation
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation
- Willingness to enroll in or enrolled in the CICA In-Depth Tax Course, or completion of the MTax program
- Eagerness to be continuously learning and gaining experience in a broad range of tax concepts
