The Role

This key position plays a critical role in system credit risk management, lending services, and loan adjudication while serving the growth and competitive needs of credit unions. As a Senior Risk Management Professional, you will be responsible for:

  • Participating in the system credit committee to manage system credit risk.
  • Providing input to strategies that support the Lending Services Department's business goals and objectives.
  • Contributing to the development of lending guidance and manuals for credit unions.
  • Offering consulting services to credit unions' lending personnel, recommending loan structures, negotiating, and documenting complex credit submissions.
  • Delivering lending conferences and workshops.
  • Demonstrating expertise in loan portfolio management and risk mitigation for complex credit applications.
  • Developing and maintaining complex reporting systems as part of system risk portfolio management.
  • Maintaining industry resources for credit union lending staff and staying up-to-date on industry and market developments.
  • Communicating with lending relationships, including industry partners, credit union personnel, Deposit Guarantee Corporation of Manitoba, and other stakeholders.
  • Making recommendations for process improvements in Lending Services.

The Person

You bring strong relationship-building skills, sound analysis and decision-making competencies, and a thorough knowledge of legislation pertaining to lending and the commercial/agricultural marketplace. You are an effective communicator and an expert negotiator with strong interpersonal skills, able to diplomatically manage and resolve conflicting demands and viewpoints. You possess personable and effective client management skills.

You are a natural collaborator, driven by the challenge of change, with the ability to adapt your approach based on the situation's requirements. You are technologically savvy and up-to-date with financial services and reporting technologies.

Education & Experience

Your background includes a minimum of 5 years' experience working in a similar capacity with a focus on Commercial Credit Adjudication. Experience with Agriculture Lending would be beneficial. A degree equivalent to completion of a three- or four-year bachelor's degree in commerce or business administration, or related experience, is required.

Our office is located in downtown Winnipeg, close to the Canada Life Centre. Employees have the option to work from home in the current environment.

Compensation Package

The salary for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, ranging from $120,000 to $180,000 per annum, depending on individual circumstances.
