About the Role

This is a permanent full-time position offering a competitive salary package, including an estimated annual compensation range of $65,000 - $85,000 depending on qualifications and experience. You will be part of a dynamic team responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment and building systems in various facilities within the National Capital Region.

Your primary duties will include:

  1. Maintaining and repairing chillers, HVAC systems, refrigeration systems, energy management systems, and instrumentation and control systems;
  2. Carrying out maintenance activities in response to emergency situations, malfunctions, and as part of regular preventative maintenance programs;
  3. Ensuring compliance with government regulations and maintaining records related to refrigerant usage;

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  1. A secondary school diploma or equivalent according to provincial standards;
  2. A valid Ontario 313A-Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic certification or an equivalent Inter-Provincial Red Seal Journeymen's Certificate of Qualification;
  3. An Ozone depletion certificate;
  4. Working at Heights and Elevated Work Platform training (an asset);
  5. At least two years of recent experience in servicing, installing, troubleshooting refrigeration and air conditioning systems and components;
  6. Significant experience with Building Automation System and Control systems such as Direct Digital Controls, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Variable Frequency Drives, Pneumatic devices, and On-board diagnostics tests of electronic and solid-state devices;

Additionally, you must possess the physical capabilities to perform the position's demands, which include crouching, bending, twisting, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and handling heavy objects.

Languages

Proficiency in English or French is required, and candidates may be assessed based on language requirements and self-assessment tests.

Assessment Criteria

Candidates will be evaluated based on technical competencies, including knowledge of refrigeration and air conditioning codes and standards, safety practices, and energy management systems. Behavioral competencies such as technology support, communication, results orientation, and teamwork will also be assessed.
