About the Job

The Calgary Stampede is seeking a skilled Event Equipment Operator to join our Venue Services Team. As a casual part-time employee, you will be responsible for assisting with setup and tear down of events, operating motorized vehicles and equipment, and maintaining a tidy work environment.

This role involves providing exceptional customer service to all clients, guests, and other departments, as well as performing general labor tasks and facility operations as assigned.

As an Event Equipment Operator, you will be working in a fast-paced environment with multiple responsibilities, including:

  • Providing exceptional customer services to internal and external customers.
  • Performing general labor tasks as assigned.
  • Assisting with heavy manual tasks involved in event set-up and tear-out, attending coat check, and reporting concerns and challenges to Venue Services supervisor for follow-up.
  • Operating motorized vehicles and equipment.
  • Carrying out facility operations and maintenance.
  • Conducting routine security checks and vehicle inspections.
  • Following safety procedures and environmental programs and reporting concerns, challenges, and offering input to Venue Services supervisor for follow-up.
  • Training, orienting, monitoring, and motivating staff, as required.
  • Performing all duties of venue services attendant, as required.
  • Assembling and dismantling of steel walls.

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

  • High standards of cleanliness and ability to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Previous building attendant experience is an asset.
  • A valid AB Class 5 driver's license.
  • Experience in the operation of motorized vehicles and equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, man lifts, walk-behind scrubbers, ride-on scrubbers, sweepers, tractors, and skid steers.
  • No fear of working around large animals and livestock.
  • Social awareness and ability to communicate tactfully.
  • Basic computer skills, including ability to navigate to the internet to use online scheduling program.
  • Basic English language skills, including reading, basic writing, and comprehension to complete safety-related documentation as needed.
  • Ability to read English to understand instructions, notices, hazards, and labels.
  • WHMIS certification is required.

Physical Demands

This role involves repetitive arm, hand, and finger movement, occasional lifting and carrying up to 100 lb., pushing, crouching, bending, kneeling, stair, and reaching. Daily stair and ladder climbing, occasional exposure to noise, fumes, hazardous chemicals, dust, animal dander, and changes in temperature are also required. Adequate visual acuity, sense of smell, and sense of touch are necessary.

Salary: $25-$35 per hour (dependent on experience)
