Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Relations and Media Lead to join our team at the Prince Albert Police Service. As a key member of our communications team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic communication plans, building relationships with media partners, and maintaining the Service's website and social media platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and maintain the Service's website and social media platforms to effectively communicate with the public and stakeholders.
  2. Implement advancements in technology and social media trends to stay ahead of the curve.
  3. Collaborate with media partners to build relationships and secure media coverage.
  4. Develop and implement internal and external communication strategies to promote the Service's initiatives and events.
  5. Stay up-to-date on policing and community issues to provide informed responses to media inquiries.
  6. Plan and execute media relations at the scenes of major incidents.
  7. Prepare and distribute news releases, public safety messages, and corporate announcements.
  8. Prepare annual reports, weekly internal newsletters, and other reports as required.
  9. Coordinate news conferences and prepare speaking notes for the Chief and Deputy Chief of Police or their designate.
Requirements:
  1. Post-Secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in communication or a related field.
  2. Three years' experience in a progressively responsible communications role, media analysis, and/or strategic communication.
  3. Experience building relationships with communities, organizations, and charities.
  4. Photography and videography skills preferred.
  5. Experience with media editing programs and promotional graphic design preferred.
  6. Knowledge and understanding of political issues at a local, provincial, and federal level.
  7. Superior ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  8. Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines when critical events occur.
  9. Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.
  10. Positive attitude and commitment to teamwork.
  11. Self-driven and ability to work within deadlines with minimal supervision.
  12. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
What We Offer:

This is an Out of Scope, Civilian position with the Prince Albert Police Service. Core Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:45pm (7.75hrs/day) with every third Friday off. Flexibility is required due to the nature of work.
