Ampstek is offering a competitive salary of $135,000 per year for our Lead Software Engineer in Test position based in Markham, Ontario.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of software products through comprehensive automated testing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Test Automation Roadmap Development: Develop and maintain the roadmap and architecture of test automation and test suites for software products.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with development, product, and operations teams to understand requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  • Defect Identification and Resolution: Identify, document, and track software defects, working with developers to resolve them.
  • Reference Code Writing: Write reference code and work closely with the development team.
  • Code Review and Feedback: Perform code reviews and provide feedback to ensure high-quality, testable code.
  • Mentorship and Training: Mentor and guide junior engineers in best practices for testing and automation.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously improve testing processes and methodologies to enhance product quality and team efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ Years of Experience: 5+ years of experience in software testing and automation.
  • Programming Language Proficiency: Proficiency in programming languages such as Java or JavaScript.
  • Test Automation Tools Familiarity: Experience with test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, JUnit, TestNG, Wiremock).
  • Executable Specification Understanding: Understanding of executable specification and behavior-driven specification.
  • Different Types of Testing Knowledge: Knowledge of different types of testing and their scope and characteristics, including smoke tests, API testing, UI testing, and penetration testing.
  • SDLC and CI/CD Understanding: Understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and modern CI/CD practices.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Communication and Collaboration Skills: Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Performance and Load Testing Tools Experience: Experience with performance and load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner).
  • Modern CI/CD Pipelines Familiarity: Familiarity with modern CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitLab CI).
  • Cloud Platforms and Services Knowledge: Knowledge of cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Containerization and Orchestration Tools Experience: Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
