About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a key member of our inter-professional team, you will work collaboratively with residents, families, and healthcare providers to facilitate, restore, and maintain optimal resident function in areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up services to residents in a long-term care setting.
  • Establish individualized treatment plans and goals in collaboration with residents and families.
  • Manage a busy caseload and prioritize issues using clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Provide education and support to residents, families, and inter-professional team members.
  • Contribute to the clinical education of OT students and related health disciplines.
  • Supervise OT Assistants and adhere to Nova Scotia Health policies and procedures.
About You

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
  • Licensure with the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia is mandatory.
  • Experience in seating assessments and pressure management strategies is an asset.
  • Knowledge of dementia and experience in geriatrics is an asset.
  • Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to adjust to changing service needs.
  • Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.
Hours and Compensation

This is a full-time position with a 75-hour bi-weekly schedule. The hourly rate is $33.97 - $42.89. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
