The Role

As a Senior API Developer at Aritzia, you will play a key role in ensuring the development of high-quality APIs that meet our enterprise standards. Your expertise will be instrumental in partnering with our Enterprise Cloud Engineering & DevSecOps teams to adhere to our enterprise standards.

  • Support the development of APIs that adhere to our enterprise API standards governing data access, security, frameworks, and patterns.
  • Collaborate with our Enterprise Cloud Engineering & DevSecOps teams to ensure alignment with our enterprise standards.
  • Develop APIs and backend functionality required to service requests.
  • Partner with our QA team to define the test approach and implement structured testing that ensures functionality, identifying and addressing deficiencies.
  • Work with our other platform teams to define a low-touch deployment approach for APIs.
  • Ensure all APIs are monitored for uptime and availability within our Observability & Monitoring platform.
  • Minimize the impact of disruptions within features and identify and address underlying issues to prevent recurring incidents.

The Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven skills and experience in designing and developing scalable, secure, reliable distributed services that power ecommerce and mobile apps.
  • Basic understanding of React & ReactNative and how applications designed using these frameworks ingest APIs.
  • Experience with designing and developing APIs using JavaScript, Typescript, and Java.
  • Knowledge of distributed caching and experience with products like Redis for performance optimization of services.
  • Understanding of the role of CDN and WAF to improve API availability and security.
  • Willingness to learn the products within our enterprise platforms to build integrations.
  • Leadership skills to coach and mentor junior members of the team.
  • Highly data-driven with the ability to infer metrics about the health and performance of a team.

The Compensation

The typical hiring range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000 CAD per year. The final agreed-upon salary may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position may be eligible for bonus.
