We are seeking a skilled Materials Handler to join our team at Whitehorse Home Hardware Building Centre. This is a permanent opportunity for an individual who is eager to take on the challenge of working in a fast-paced environment.

About the Role

This role involves loading, unloading, and moving products and materials by hand or with basic material handling equipment. The ideal candidate will be able to operate a variety of equipment to load, unload, and move materials and products efficiently.

You will also be responsible for picking orders, stocking, packing and unpacking goods, organizing and maintaining inventory, and operating computerized inventory record keeping and re-ordering systems.

In addition, you will provide advice about merchandise, greet customers, discuss type, quality, and quantity of merchandise or services sought for purchase, rental or lease, and prepare merchandise for purchase, rental or lease.

Responsibilities
  • Loading, unloading, and moving products and materials by hand or with basic material handling equipment.
  • Operating a variety of equipment to load, unload, and move materials and products.
  • Picking orders and stocking.
  • Packing and unpacking goods.
  • Organizing and maintaining inventory.
  • Providing advice about merchandise.
  • Greeting customers and discussing type, quality, and quantity of merchandise or services sought for purchase, rental or lease.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • The ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to learn and adapt.
