Peer Family Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Family Support Worker to join our team at Fraser Health. As a Family Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing peer-based support to families and individuals affected by mental health issues.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and maintain relationships with families and individuals, providing ongoing support and guidance.
- Deliver peer-based support through one-to-one and group sessions, focusing on care and support of loved ones, navigation of the mental health system, and self-care.
- Assist in creating connections between community service providers and families, promoting family involvement in mental health services.
- Participate in family support groups and promote family group support programs.
- Share knowledge and experience with MHSU team members to support families and individuals.
- Collaborate with the MHSU team to meet individual needs and situational requirements.
- Participate in program planning, development, evaluation, and quality improvement activities.
- Prepare and maintain records and complete program documentation.
- Maintain awareness of community resources and assist families in accessing services.
- Ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
- Participate in staff meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and committees.
We are looking for an individual with lived experience as a family member or natural support of a loved one living with mental illness. A recognized family peer support training program and one year of recent related work experience are also required. A valid Class Five BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle with insurance coverage are necessary.
